Acomb is a beautiful rural village located in south of Northumberland, not far from Hadrian’s Wall or the old market town of Hexham. It’s a truly amazing place to go whether you’re interested in history, walking, a peaceful retreat or the countryside, in general.
Hadrian’s Wall
Hadrian’s Wall is one of England’s most fascinating pieces of visible history! It stretches from one side of England to the other and marks the fortified boundary between Roman Britannia and the unconquered Caledonia to the North. Hadrian’s Wall is just a few miles from the Sun Inn.
Hexham Market Town
Hexham is England’s favourite market town! It’s just a couple of miles from Acomb and can be reached by foot, bus or taxi very easily. It’s full of history and is home to a popular weekly market (every Tuesday). You can visit Hexham Abbey or the Old Gaol. There’s lots to do for kids as well:
- Bowling (at Hexham Leisure Centre)
- Swimming (at Hexham Leisure Centre)
- Jungle Jacks (at Hexham Leisure Centre)
- Sele Park playground
- Forum Cinema (market square)
